Chai Latte

Chai: America's Hottest Import

Chai (which means tea in Hindi) is India’s national drink. Enjoyed by more than 1.5 billion Indians, it is quickly becoming America’s hottest import, too. Many industry analysts predict that Chai Lattes will eventually surpass cappuccinos in popularity.

Chai Lattes are traditionally made with milk. The cow is sacred in India — and milk is a main reason why. It’s the best natural source of calcium and an all around nutritious food… helping build strong bones and muscles for life.

  • 1 cup pre-sweetened Chai mix from concentrate (available in the tea section of major supermarkets)

  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons plain Darjeeling tea
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

In a small bowl, combine cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger and nutmeg. Mix together well. Boil the water and add the spices. Allow them to brew for a good ten minutes. Reduce heat and add the milk.
